Queens Flushing Library
As part of our on-call contract with the NYC DDC, Spacesmith was enlisted to design an additional elevator for the Queens Flushing Library that improves traffic flow and vertical circulation. Our team will also upgrade the existing elevator and reconfigure any adjacent interior spaces affected by the renovation. The new design will to be sensitive to and enhance elements of the existing architecture.
Flushing Community Library was completed in 1998 in a vibrant multi-cultural neighborhood. It plays a vital role in the community and services a high number of patrons. By one estimate there are approximately 8,000 unique visitors daily, making this the second busiest library in the Queens Public Library System. All 4 levels of the Library are accessible to the public and are serviced by a single elevator.
