We are looking to fill the following positions:

Intermediate Architectural Designer

Spacesmith is seeking a talented and self-motivated candidate for a key position as an Intermediate Architectural Designer. We are a group of dynamic professionals who foster a vibrant and creative culture with opportunity for professional growth, involvement in varied project types and phases of the design process.

The ideal candidate will have experience with various building types and stages of design and development.  He/she will also have good management and organization skills combined with a high level of design and technical ability. The position requires the ability to communicate efficiently and collaborate in an interdisciplinary, deadline-driven atmosphere.  He/she must be able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, be a self-starter and acknowledge when additional input is needed.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design documentation from Programming Reports & Schematic Design through Contract Documents and Contract Administration.
  • Submittal and shop drawing review with senior project staff oversight
  • Work directly with Project Designer to realize project’s design intent.
  • Work directly with Project Manager to develop technical drawings, plans and details to document design intent.
  • Work independently on assigned tasks, review own work, and provide redlines and assign tasks to junior staff.
  • Previous consultant coordination experience a plus

Qualifications:                                                                            

  • Professional degree in Architecture or Interior Design
  • 3-8 years of experience in all phases of design, from schematic through construction administration, experience in commercial interior design required.
  • Strong organizational, collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple deadlines and collaborate in-house and with external consultants
  • Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, AutoCAD, Revit and other necessary technical tools for the project
  • FF&E experience
  • US citizen with proficiency in the English language

Junior Designer

Spacesmith is seeking a talented and self-motivated candidate for a key position as a Junior Designer. We are a group of dynamic professionals who foster a vibrant and creative culture with opportunity for professional growth, involvement in varied project types and phases of the design process.

The ideal candidate will have experience in various stages of design and development and possess basic knowledge of architecture and/or interior design drawing terminology and conventions. He/she will also have good management and organization skills combined with a high level of design and technical ability. The position requires the ability to communicate efficiently and collaborate in an interdisciplinary, deadline-driven atmosphere.  He/she must be able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, be a self-starter and acknowledge when additional input is needed.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in completion of various duties as requested by project team and senior management. 
  • Assist in space planning and design process
  • Gather furnishings, materials and other resources with a broad design concept in mind under supervision of the lead designer
  • Prepare plans, sections, elevations, three-dimensional models for study and presentation
  • Prepare design presentations under supervision of the lead designer
  • Preparation of base plan drawings for design or construction documents under supervision
  • Transfer red-lines, sketch details, sections, notes to construction drawings
  • Willingness to support the team as needed

Qualifications:

  • Professional degree in Architecture or Interior Design
  • +/- 3 years of experience in various phases of design, experience in commercial interior design required.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino
  • Possess a basic understanding of construction and furniture specifications
  • Possess a basic knowledge of construction codes and barrier free design standards
  • Strong organizational, collaboration and communication skills
  • US citizen with proficiency in the English language
