Private residence overlooks Avenue Montaigne

This 3,300 square foot duplex residence overlooks Avenue Montaigne on Paris’ fashionable Right Bank. The contemporary design experience within the 1920’s Haussman Style apartment complex begins in the entry vestibule, lined with creamy leather floors and wall.  The vestibule leads to the spacious living/dining area where high floor to ceiling windows with oak paneled porticos appear to be carved from the building stone. At the far end of the room, rough concrete and blackened steel plates encase the open fireplace.  The finishes are rich and yet subtle, providing an elegant backdrop for the owner’s impressive collection of contemporary art and sculpture. A stone and metal stair rises from the leather floor and connects to children’s rooms on the top floor, under the Mansard roof.

The individual bedroom/bathroom suites are similar in design with leather clad bed units and custom tiled bathrooms while expressing the individuality of the children through color – yellow, orange and turquoise - and furnishings – rugs, bed covers and floor lamps.

The overall feeling of the apartment is simple, elegant and neutral with vivid splashes of color added through art and finishes.  At night, lighting recessed in the arch of the skylights washes the space and draws the eye out the windows across rooftops to the Eifel Tower beyond.
