Craft Cocktails & Casual Grazing
Spacesmith provided design services to Hudson-based mixologist Kat Dunn as she transformed a former music store into a destination for curated cocktails and happy hour plates. Our team delivered on the client’s concept of a comfortable neighborhood bar with a playful, midcentury modern charm while keeping costs down and preserving the existing structure’s original features.
In the resulting space, the peacock blue wall and ceiling finish supports the client’s request for a retro, 1950s- and 60s-inspired interior. This color choice, paired with high ceilings and exposed structural columns and beams, creates an intimate ambiance while maintaining a feeling of spaciousness.
Full-height wood panels behind the booths establish a rhythmic cadence between the existing windows without detracting from their quaint and varied sizing and placement. The restaurant’s layout respects the original columns and transforms them into functional focal points that follow the circulation and divide the two distinct seating areas.
The permanent fixtures and finishes, including the locally designed bar, reflect an intentionally simplistic aesthetic to maximize the visual impact of the vintage lamps and furnishings that infuse Padrona with character.
