Intermediate Designer

Nitya Charugundla

When beauty and functionality intersect, something powerful happens—spaces begin to serve, inspire, and uplift.

Nitya designs with intention, care, and a deep understanding of how space shapes experience. Growing up in New York, she developed a fascination with architecture’s ability to be both poetic and practical—an intersection she continues to explore through her work at Spacesmith.

Her experience spans public and private schools and arts center master planning, and she’s known for her ability to translate client needs into thoughtful, human-centered designs.

Outside the studio, Nitya expresses her creativity through illustration, line art, and photography. She also serves on the Advisory Board for Syracuse University’s School of Architecture, her alma mater, where she sponsors a scholarship to support access to design education. Whether in practice or mentorship, her work is grounded in the belief that great design improves lives—often not through grand gestures, but through the smallest, most intentional details.
