Michel’s first draw to architecture stemmed from his childhood home, which was designed by his great-great-grandfather, Luxembourg’s first state architect. A sturdy building constructed with salvaged stone from the city’s demolished fortress, it provided a place of comfort and safety.

The home’s function and structure embody a few of the beliefs that guide Michel’s designs today: that spaces should create opportunities, foster human activity, and touch people’s senses, all while making responsible use of resources. He values architecture’s vast influence on daily life, from shaping social interactions in the heart of New York City to providing privacy and solace in Luxembourg’s lush countryside—and everything in between.

His outgoing personality and daring design decisions lend an air of excitement to his projects, ultimately leading to well-proportioned spaces with unique architectural features. For Michel, design is not about checking the boxes; it’s about achieving the intended vision while delivering a project with qualities, functions, and aesthetic details that go above and beyond the client’s imagination. To meet this standard, he combines a respect for traditional design rules with an ability to recognize when breaking those rules will yield even greater results.

A dual citizen of Luxembourg and the United States and fluent in five languages, Michel has worked in the field for more than 40 years. He is a seasoned project leader and problem solver with expertise in corporate office interiors, high-end retail, and hospitality. His highlight reel includes New York City-based projects like Hermés Maison Madison, Ladurée, and the MarketAxess headquarters, as well as private residences in Paris, Luxembourg, and Geneva.

Michel is a registered architect in the United States and the European Union and president of the Luxembourg-American Chamber of Commerce in New York. He enjoys building relationships over rounds of golf and improving his mental and physical endurance through triathlons.
