Senior Designer
John Ludlam
Architecture is a tool for storytelling—for translating community values and shared history into the built environment
John brings a deep sense of purpose to his work, using architecture and planning to foster equity, amplify community narratives, and create lasting impact.
Before joining Spacesmith, he worked on public interest design projects across the country. One example is Paper Monuments—a public arts and history project that invited New Orleans residents to reimagine monuments following the removal of Confederate statues. The project was later featured in the Cooper Hewitt’s Designing Peace exhibition.
John holds both a Bachelor and Master of Architecture from Tulane University. Outside the studio, he explores ideas of materiality and place through photography, furniture making, gardening, and reading architectural history.
